St. Vincent grapes

Anyone have any experience with St. Vincent grapes? If so I'm planning on making a 5 gallon batch in a week or two any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I had a bottle of St Vincent last year at Fulkerson's winery in the Finger Lakes. It was very good. Tim

Thanks for the information as I'm fairly new to wine and never heard of the grape before. Guess I'll try 71B yeast to help with the MLF plus throw in a culture while in the secondary. Which oak compliments this wine the best?

Thanks again, Rick

That's really a matter of personal taste, Rick. I tend to use only Missouri Oak, which there's only one cooper that makes such barrels. Last year I did experiment a little with some French Oak chips in a carboy, but quite honestly I haven't sampled it yet and it was a blend with only 1/3 St. Vincents.

Hi Clyde, Guess I'll taste when the time comes and decide from there although I'm leaning towards American also I talked to the grape farmer this eve and it is the lighter grape as you described.

Thanks, Rick
