Wine Fridge $139

Home Depot has a Sunbeam wine cooler for $139. Holds 47 bottles. I've been looking at coolers for some time and figured for that price, I'd dive right in.

I made a simple wood stand for it, 24" high, to keep it off the floor and easier on the back. Now I just have to adjust the temperature.

This was advertised in the Thanksgiving week flyer. I think it is a new item at that price. This may be a one shot special deal though. Sears has what appears to be the same exact model with the Kenmore tag for $349.

As for the alleged 47 bottles, you have to put one on the back of the rack behind the other five bottles. It fits, but is not easily seen. The unit is hardly heard, the temperature holds within 1 degree. I put the unit on top of a 24" high stand to get it to a comfortable height.

I've been in manufacturing for 40 years of my working career. I have no idea how they can build this unit to sell at that price. Just the freight from China has to be $15 of the cost. Ed snipped-for-privacy@snet.net

I was one of these fool too. Bought 4 units last spring at $69 each. Dropped them into a wall thinking it was great having @ 80 bottles or so handy. Champange, whites, sweets and reds. Well, like all the power tools I ever bought from Home Depot, they all went bad one after another. Today they have all been returned. Do I ever learn, I guess not, as a fool I still go there!!??

I guess the name of the place says it all, just say it slowly...

I was quite interested in this post. So I checked with the Home Depot web site. It is not listed. I called the Home Depots in our area and they never heard of it. I checked the Sunbeam site and it is not listed as a product of theirs. I did a google search and found noting like it.

I wonder if this is a new item that they are market testing?

I've seen wine fridges for sale at our Home Depot here in Wisconsin. It was a new store, which opened up in August. Darlene

It may have been a special deal for the holidays. It was advertised in the Thanksgiving Day flyer and my wife spotted it so we grabbed one. Sears had what seems to be the identical unit for $349. FWIW, I live in CT. It could have even been a regional thing. Ed

It sounds great to me. Wish I could get one. Up here in the great white north Home Depot has a 35 bottle wine cooler on special for $288C. This was probably manufactured in Toronto and likely sells in the U.S. for $99 but they think we like paying double up here (haha).

I stop back in Home Depot and check it out again this week. BJ's and Home Depot have been carrying wine cellars for at least a year or two in NH. But the prices are not that much different from the wine accessory supply magazines. This last month or two Home Depot has seemed much more aggressive in it's pricing so I thought they were clearing them all out at low prices to make space for something else, but it seems they have brought more in and raised the pricepoint a little. In NH stores the wine cellars are behind the appliance area in the same row as the vent fans you place over a range in a kitchen, they have been one aisle over from the microwaves.

That is where the regular ones are at our HD. These were right up front near the registers; that is what leads me to believe it may be a special one shot deal. If I had more room, I'd grab a second one at that price. Ed snipped-for-privacy@snet.net
