Korean Nokcha from East Teas in London

Damn, this stuff's good!

I do like tea from East Teas and most times I'm in London I make a trip to Borough Market and their stall. Nice chap too, generous with samples, chat and recommendations.

This is one of the bigger leafed teas I've had and certainly the curliest. It brews easily and isn't too fussy about temperature - no obvious bitterness if you're on the hot side.

They describe it as "a natural toasty sweetness and an earthy, biscuity fragrance." Not sure that's quite how I'd put it - it's deliciously rich without being strong. The taste is more herbal and almost "vegetable broth" with prominent umame rather than strongly caffeine or tea-like. Unlike Japanese senchas it doesn't have the seaweed or cabbage notes.
