1993 Chimney Rock Elevage

I opened a bottle of 1993 Chimney Rock Elevage from the remnants of a case I bought at the winery on release many years ago. Elevage is Chimney Rock' s Bordeaux blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Cab Franc and Petite Verdot. The win e is mediium red in the glass with a clear rim but no obvious bricking. Th e nose shows some maturity with tobacco and mushroom notes along with red f ruit and cassis. Smooth on the palate with mature flavors of black plum, b lackberry, dust, and mushrooms. Form tannins still grip the finish. Still a long way from dead. "B+"

Hello Bi!!, I am a lurker (occasional poster) on alt.food.wine, and I owe you a vote of personal thanks, and that is for letting me find Twin Farms. My wife and I spent our 25th wedding anniversary there. What a place! Way above my pa y grade (retired university professor)) but for a once-in-a-lifetime experi ence, we could not be more pleased.

Cheers, Marc

P. S. For our actual anniversary evening they poured us the 2000 Pavillon Rouge. Still very young, but very stunning nevertheless.

I just returned from our annual Fall leaf tour at Twin Farms. We have been going there since 1998 and have had some great wine experiences. Glad you liked it. Michael Beardsley (The GM) and I have become good friends over the years and have traded some terrific wines. The former wine director Er ic Riechenbach is also a close friend and Eric is now working for Robert Fo ley in Napa.
