One of my kids (24 year old Eddy) is enroute tonight to Germany to spend a week with a girl that he met last summer travelling across Europe. The least that a good dad can do is to recommend some good bars. Any suggestions for Berlin? Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer a dad living vicariously.

Hello Rick,
when I was travelling in Berlin with my girlfriend we enjoyed the "Zum Nussbaum" near Alexanderplatz. Until it was destroyed during WW2 it was the oldest pub in Berlin. It was rebuilt afterwards. Nice atmosphere and typical Berlin meals! You can read about it (and other pubs) on:

Thank you Bastian. Unfortunately I was not able to email hom while he was in Berlin. He came back today with stories of being taken around by his 21 year old friend to clubs. He had a very good time!!
She lives in the eastern zone. His report is that the former East Berlin including Unter den Linden is very nice indeed.
Perhaps it is time for me to pay a ret urn vis it.
