Brasserie Pelforth

Hi

I'm doing a research on France beer and I was wondering when Brasserie Pelforth was established. I know that it was established by a fusion of small breweries in Nord - pas-de-Calais.

If you mean Pelfort, I can't tell you when it was established, but I can tell you that the Pelfort name is owned by the pub Dachsbau in Krefeld, Germany

It is their "house beer" and was formerly contract brewed in France, but is now brewed at an (unnamed) Bavarian brewery. The story I heard from the owner is that he served their beer but after the brewery closed he purchased rights to the name (there was supposedly some sort of family squable).

as far as I can see Pelforth was a beer of the Pelican brewery, then the brewery was renamed Pelforth in the 1970s - 2 websites suggest the name is a contraction of PEL-ican & FORT ("strong" in french) with an 'h' on the end to make it sound English.

another french site has the following (badly translated into English by Google as...) from
