Brewpubs in Portland?

My neice has just finished law school and is moving to Portland, Oregon. I'm thinking about giving her a brewpub gift certificate or three to help her explore the city. Any suggestions about good places to go? Web sites would be helpful, too.

Portland Brewing gets lots of good comments from locals. And Widmer would be a good choice too.

Dav,

You've chosen probably the best city in the world for microbreweries. There are so many good ones that she'll be exploring for a long time. There's also a lot of great beer bars in town, such as the Horse Brass, Dublin, and the Rose and Raindrop.

Here are some of my favorites that will probably have gift certificates:

McMenamin's Kennedy School Widmer Gasthaus (yes, they really do have some rare beers there from time to time) Laurelwood Pub & Brewery Alameda Brewpub Rogue Public House (technically not a brewery) Roots Organic Brewery (don't know if they have gift certs yet, but definitely worth a trip) Bridgeport Brewery (newly remolded in the Pearl District)

and the list goes on...

Portland who? Portland Brewing is gone. It's now Pyramid. Got bought out quite a while ago.

Probably.

So would BridgePort (if one can get past the "Pearlization" that has taken place). And there are all those McMenamins joints too. And the Lucky Labrador. Roots. Amnesia. Turn around, and there's another one.

Or how about a great multitap with good eats, like the Concordia Ale House? Dunno if they do gift certificates, but it's worth a shot. Maybe Henry's 12th Street Ale House does gift certificates?
