DogFish Head Punkin '07

Oct 18, 2007 2 Replies

I'm a big fan of DFH. I have a case of their Punkin Ale from '06 put away. I got my hands on their 07 version a few weeks ago. I then had it on draught at a few local beer bars here in Philly.

Regardless of on tap or in bottle, I found each sip to be sour. Not a good Belgian sour, just nasty sour. I spoke to a few "connected" friends high in the local beer scene. One, whose opinion I respect above all others, said after 3 90 Minutes that he didn't notice it from a sip. Two other friends agreed with me on the sourness.

Has anyone else experienced this with the Punkin '07?

Cheers! Robert~

I had a bottle of it earlier in the year and it was great as usual, then I had it on tap a week or so ago at the Dallas Gingerman and it was indeed sour. Enough so that I sent it back.

Not sure what you are saying here. Are you talking about have 3 of the 90 Minute IPA's or about having Punkin Ales within 90 minutes.

I'll try it at the Rehoboth pub.
