OT: beeradvocate.com style reviews site for whisky

Hi all, I've been putting together a scotch and malt whisky reviews site in the style of beeradvocate.com or tobaccoreviews.com.

It is at

It works pretty much the same way beeradvocate.com does. We use the Michael Jackson scoring system. All the scores are then averaged to make a main score for the bottle, and all the reviews are displayed on the bottle's page. You can search and browse the database as you'd expect.

I'm still developing the site and have only got 77 bottles listed sofar, and 41 reviews. Please come help out with your tasting notes, reviews and bottle suggestions, or even just suggestions about the site.

Thanks! Colin.

That's an interesting and original name for a whisky website. Although I'm not much of a whisky drinker I wish you the best.

If you use the Michael Jackson scoring system, wouldn't Jesus Juice would always be rated #1?

Thanks. Beeatris.

Couldn't tell you because I don't know what jesus juice is. You might want to ask the original poster of this thread.

Michael Jackson is a famous whisky and beer critic. Too bad about the name. Somebody else described the Michael Jackson Scoring System as "first, build a theme park in your backyard that'll attract young boys.... etc. etc." :)

In the case of the beer (and scotch) writer Michael Jackson, his last name is an anglicised version of his ancestral family name, Jacobowitz.

Just clarifying on of the many differences between a respected beer (and whisk(e)y) writer and a faded off-his-rocker pop-music star.

And noting that the loon who posts as "Beeatris" is a troll.
