Had some Wernesgrüner recently. Is it me, or is there honey on the nose of this beer?

I've noticed a honey-like nose in a lot of German lagers, usually from smaller breweries. German brewers at their best are very good at getting the most from their malts. It's a big part of what makes them such a pleasure to drink.
