A beer with your curry?

I'm sure it used to be available - I recall buying some in ~1993. But I also remember (most of) a trip to Copenhagen in '97, where a bar called "die elefant und muse" (Elephant and Mouse) had a big replica elephant head on the wall; one pressed down a tusk and elephant beer came out the trunk...

One of the top 10 worst hangovers of my life. Barely caught my flight home. The stewardesses spotted it and put me in a row by myself where I could lie down (and couldn't do any harm to anyone else...)

Solihull CAMRA are specialists at beer and balti events. Their beer festival last weekend strangely enough didn't feature Asian cuisine though it was still a great little festival.

Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted, from the fridge.

Before you say "sacrilege!" -- try it, the flavour stands up brilliantly to being colder than normal.

I have also tried Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted with curry and it goes very well.

Another Scottish ale that goes well with curry is Arran Blonde.

White Beer - The only beer that seriously goes with a curry ! (Paulaner preferably but Erdinger would do)

Both excellent recommendations. Try Pinkus Alt Bier as well.

Back to my posting about the mild - every now and then I see something like "XXX stands up to the spiciness of a curry" or "YYY cuts through the curry" We noticed with the mild that no such conflict arose, the food and drink were improved by having them both together, they just complemented each other like no other combination we've tried.

Schneider is good also. I also like Brooklyn Lager, curry brings out the hops in it beautifully.

Interesting you should say that. Last week I met someone else who was raving about how well mild and curry go together.
