Archer's Brewery

Does anybody know if the Archer's website will ever reappear?

believe you me, Swindon is an oasis in the middle of idyllic rural countryside, but it cannot be considered a 'rural community' :)

As for the web site, the domain name is held by someone, but the website has never been operational since I knew the brewery existed. If anyone from Archers is reading, I'll do you a damn fine website for a few free polypins.

I don't think they can be bothered though, everytime I've been down there for a polypin, there have been several other customers for the same thing. Though, I can't find any pubs in Swindon that serve Archers, I was up in Manchester last week - and both the Marble Arch and Beer House had Archers ales on tap.

It was a railway community, home of the huge GWR workshops and the refreshment rooms that IK Brunel was so hostile to (they had a monopoly and he felt they abused it). Archers used to have their brewery in an ex-railway building, but I think they've moved since.

It seems to be a dormitory community now: when I recently changed trains at Swindon I was amazed by the number of bicycles (mostly good ones) waiting for the commuters. I hope they took advantage of them by getting a drink on their way home!

I used to drive from Reading to Swindon, its a nice easy drive down the M4, but the other carriageway.. yikes! All the people in Swindon work elsewhere. Must have something to do with house prices, and not beer quality, despite Archers being one of the nicest.

they do a range of Train beers, which are excellent. We had 2 polypins at christmas of Golden Train, I should have taken 3 it went down so well.

They're still down by the Pattern Store pub, tucked away down the road to sainsbury's, and next door to yet another new housing estate.
