Don't throw Jennings to the Wolves

Realistically, I am afraid you are pissing in the wind on that one.

No family left

Directors' shareholdings smaller % than expected (but still enough to make hefty sums if sold, though)

Lots of local shareholders saying they are refusing to sell, including some with quite substantial holdings eg 1.2%

Acceptance day is May 19th.

We are running a "Keep Jennings Local" campaign, with leaflets, stickers, a petition, and as much press and TV coverage as we can get, in the hope that other local shareholders might keep the faith!

Petition forms can be downloaded from

and there is a return address on them, if anyone wants to help.

I've signed and told W&D that they're not getting my 531 shares.

:o)))))))))

We were out with the town crier in Whitehaven Market yesterday and got another 1300+ signatures!!

We're getting loads of newspaper and TV publicity, too.

I wonder what chance of W&D withdrawing when they realise how much they are not wanted?

Looks like it is all over - W&D have over 80% of Jennings shares (despite local efforts). Lets just hope that they keep to their "promise" of keeping the brewery open.

Well... we tried!

And, as someone once said, at least it isn't Robinson's!!
