Hereford

Hello all,

I was in Hereford for a flying visit this weekend, and I could've done with carrying out a bit of pub research beforehand.

It's not impossible that I'll be down that way again at some point soon-ish, so if anyone can provide any pub recommendations or detail over and above what's in the GBG, it'd be most appreciated.

In addition to ale, I'm interested in finding somewhere (either on-trade or off-trade) for proper, local cider/perry/scrumpy, and details of any particular producers I should look out for.

I'd also be interested to know about places out in the country, as long as they're easily accessible from Hereford city centre by public transport.

Thanks for your help.

Martin.

Where did you go?

Nope, AFAIK the best spots are the Barrels, Victory and the spoon on the way back to the station. Years ago the pub just over the bridge (Turks Head?) was good but not now.

Too close to Bulmers factory I'd have thought.

I popped into the Wetherspoon at lunchtime. Didn't sample the ales, though, unfortunately. (As I say, it was a flying visit :-) )

Thanks.

Martin.

Well there is Dunkerton's but that is way out in the sticks near Pembridge. Weston's at Much Marcle may be a better bet - there might be a bus that goes there, but again it's a fair way from Hereford.
