As you wrote: 'traditionally used to mature malt whisky'. This doesn't mean that the barrels were actually used for whisky it just means that the brewery obtained the new casks from the same source.

Is there really any need for a reply like this?
Chris merely said that the beer is very nice, if a tad pricey... why the sarky comments?

Been watching this group for 18 months and the most noticeable thing about the contributions made here is J Picthall's singular lack of humility or charm. I think he's one of those opinionated pillocks who takes great pleasure in being an obnoxious and bombastic individual from the saftey of his keyboard. Similarly voiced bile in a face to face scenario would likely lead to a vilolent death. Roll on that day.
In the meantime I shall satisfy myself with the'killfile'option.
Ever hopeful

Eeeh, if it's expensive it's got to be good.

I apologise for the tone of my post, late night and all that.
I do not apologise for being angered by CAMRA types, i.e. most posters on this group, almost simultaneously moaning about prices and moaning about poor availability.
Good beer will increase in availability if more people can make profit from it. Simple as that. Give credit to the likes of Safeway for their endeavours but don't insult them by criticising them for their prices which actually represent quite slim margins.

yeah yeah yeah
Is that a promise?
Not something I've ever said.

Just remarking on a nice beer I'd tasted. With respect, if you read my initial post again, I was not criticising Safeway, or their endeavours, or their pricing, or anything else... What I said was, "Very pleasant indeed - if not a tad too expensive for just everyday scoffing".
Crusade for higher prices (if that's what you're about) by all means, but you're reading things into my post that aren't there.
