The Old Greyhound is an old,valued and busy pub belonging to S&N or its nominees. An application has been made to demolish it and was granted on the same day! No planning application has been lodged for the site.Had there been the demolition would have been under scrutiny so it appears obvious that they are trying to develop the site by the back door route. from the website quoted - _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Rushcliffe Borough Council have served a BUILDING PRESERVATION ORDER in relation to the OLD GREYHOUND this has the effect of protecting the building as fully as if it were listed for a period of up to 6 months. During this period an assessment is made, and if the building qualifies against the appropriate selection criteria it is added formally to the statutory list.
Our thanks should go to the Design and Conservation Team at Rushcliffe Borough for a lot of very hard work over the last few days to put the preservation order in place.
What impact this will have on any proposed sale of the Old Greyhound we may learn over the next few days. Glad to hear it. I went to the Parish Council meeting on Tuesday night and it wasn't mentioned then, although a councillor said in effect "Watch this space" S&N were trying to drive a coach and horses through the planning rules which include an amenity viability clause.Because no planning application was lodged at the time this provision was apparently by passed. Roll on the sustainability act!
