Scotland recommendations wanted

Yank going to Scotland for a week in June. Plan on driving to the more remote areas of the Highlands from Glasgow and am looking for beer, pub (freehouse?), and B&B recommendations. I'll sample the whisky for certain, but I'm a dark beer fan by and large.

-- Cheers!

In Islay there are just two places serving cask ale but both are excellent and in the same village - The Lochindaal and the Port Charlotte Hotel in Port Charlotte.

I can vouch for the entries in the GBG especially those on Skye and around Fort William.

In Glasgow try the Three Judges on Dumbarton Road, elsewhere Traquair House

is very good (Innerleithen) and the Clova Hotel, Glen Clova has a regular range of Orkney beers and other guests (and a bar full of thirsty climbers), and a beer festival occasionally.

And I can add the State, off Sauchiehall Street, good guest range, and fine blues on Monday night, Babbity Bowsters and the Blackfriers in Merchant City (bit posher, BB has a Ronay rated restaurent upstairs), and the Bon Accord next to the M8 off Sauchiehall Street (on of the local CAMRA branches haunts).
