One of my locals serves it quite regularly now, but I can't say I have enjoyed it, it's not to my taste, very ordinary. But the question is whether it is kept well, or did it arrive that way? The local have about 5 guest ales a week, and keep a well run cellar (IMHO). I try all the guest ales (maybe not all on one night), the less well known ones (to me, at least) can vary from green to sulphurous crap (then when drawn to the bar persons attention, is replaced immediately with something else and the barrel taken off). The more well known ones are usually better, but often mundane. I wonder if this state of affairs arises because of quality control (or lack of it) and a desire to try to please a wider audience, a bit like a single flavour tea (or whisky) verses a blended type. And I am definitely not a troll, though admit to Viking roots. cheers Wazza

I've yet to have a crap pint of TT, it's one of my regular "staples" - wish I could get it regularly here in Wetherby!

I've just been looking at your webpage. You may be interested in "Radio 270" - an offshore radio off Scarborough's coast, quite a popular book and it is being made into a film. And flavour. Some people think that Ram Tam is Landlord with added caramel... I think that Landlord is Ram Tam that has unaccountably had important ingredient(s) left out.

In any case, isn't this an old myth? Ram Tam and Landlord may be parti-gyled, and there's nothing wrong in that, but I strongly suspect there's a little more to it than just adding some caramel.

I've had mediocre pints of Landlord, but on form it's one of the real classics. And yes I was born in Yorkshire (Leeds), but now live near Stockport. Given the choice between (well kept) TT Landlord and Robinson's Best Bitter, Landlord would win hands down every time. So much more character.

I'm a Londoner, though I've been drinking, and enjoying, Landlord, when I can find it, for more than 25 years; one of my finest beery experiences was drinking Landlord one night at the Goat in St Albans in the early 1980s, when it was absolutely superb, and I am still seldom disappointed when I sample it again.
