matthew brown

Does anyone know if they still make matthew brown bitter?

Someone asked me and I haven't the foggiest.

Thanks.

No. It was closed in 1988 by new owners Scottish and Newscastle.

Sounds like something they would do. However, I was told it was still being made this year? I'm afraid I have no other details other than someone had a pint of it a week or so ago.

When they closed Matthew Brown, it (well a beer of that name anyway) was brewed at Home (Nottingham) for several years. When they closed Home, it was moved to Bristol. I think it finally died when they closed Bristol as well in 1999. There's ceratinly no mention of it in recent GBGs. No great loss IMHO.

Any idea which pub that person claimed to have been drinking it in?

All I can see is "two guest beers vary weekly".
