The uninitiated might just wonder where "here" is.

Not all wetherspons are created equal. One spoon, visited today, whilst displaying all the banners (including the give-away Festival dates: 20th - 31st Oct) failed to have any festive beers on (as they had "other beers to sell first") Bah. and indeed Humbug. False advertising I call it.

Well my local JDW (Harbord Harbord) in Middleton had Bateman's Strawberry stuff and nothing else and NO advertising posters or outside banner whatever.

It's going from bad to worse this one and must be in contention for the worst JDW in the land.

Unless someone knows otherwise?

Certainly the Bateman's Strawberry Fields has been seen in most of my nearby spoons.

Not on at ours yet, sadly - one I am looking forward to! But they tell me it's in the cellar.

But I tried 6 new-to-me beers last night, [1] all in tiptop condition! Lovely.

I enjoyed the Caledonian XPA the best!

Back this afternoon for some more!

[1] in halves!!

Clearly they plan to replace the line on that handpump. The "Strawberry stuff" has a massive reputation for adding flavour to the pipework.

I don't normally read sigs, but having now done so in your case, I'm afraid that as I'm not Dr Who, I will be unable to attend the Whitehaven Beer Festival this year. (I asked because there was a thread in Yahoo! groups about something in - from memory - Cardiff. I wasn't aware it was a nationwide thing. Perhaps I should get to more 'Spoons ;-) )

Like they'd care!

I rthink you'll find wetherspoon are a national chain.

3 more spoons sampled today, 1 didn't have the Bateman's SF.

Whilst I liked the Cain's Raisin beer, I still think that the York Centurion is the best.

I found the Tom Woods Lincolnshire Red far too bitter. YMMV.

OTOH: Mine (Worthing) started 2 days early.

Oh yes, some spoons put the festival beers on early, but were still charging (the higher) Guest Beer price.

Well I have to fess up. It seems my JDW is closing for a few days to have the ultra cold dispense system installed, hence not participating in the festival.

It is still p*ss poor though.

Ultra... Cold... Dispense...

Well, that's something to look forward to, isn't it?
