Wirral CAMRA's Birkenhead OctoberFest starts tonight - Pacific Road, near Hamilton Square, Birkenhead, Wirral, Merseyside.



Billed as a 'Celtic Fringe' festival, featuring beers from Cornwall, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland & Wales - plus Cain's & local micros (50+ beers & 20 ciders).



Thurs 23rd Oct 7-11pm - Quiet Connoisseurs Night - £2 (NUS offer, see below) Fri 24th Oct 6-11pm - music from Peninsular Jazzmen - £4 Sat 25th Oct 12-4pm - Quiet Session - £2 Sat 25th Oct 7-11pm music from Rubber Soul (60s-90s covers) - £4



Entry ticket only.



Tickets are/were available from The Crown, Dispensary, Old Colonial, Stork & Pacific Road Box Office (all in Birkenhead), Commercial (New Brighton), Travellers Rest (Higher Beb), White Lion (Childer Thornton), Irby Mill (Greasby), Johnny Pye (Heswall), Farmers Arms (Wallasey Vill), Hilbre Court (West Kirby) & Ship&Mitre (Liverpool).



(but according to local CAMRA paper - late tickets, 20/10 onwards, will be sold from Old Colonial, Bridge St, Birkenhead)



Festival Charity is Claire House - local children's hospice.



Card-carrying CAMRA members will get 'free' beer tokens on entry.



Thursday night only - card-carrying N.U.S. students will get free beer tokens.



Those joining CAMRA at the Beerfest will also get beer tokens, plus



2003 GoodBeerGuide, & 3 months extra membership if paying by DirectDebit.

erm, it was last weekend - everything seemed to go off OK, AFAIK no major conflicts :~)

IMO & AFAIK it wasn't really widely advertised as a students' night, so few turned up & those that did seemed well-behaved

did you go on the friday night? - I worked thurs & drank fri & enjoyed both. last year the sat night 60s-90s band was good, but too loud (to have a conversation anywhere in the place). cheers MikeMcG
