It not about the beer being good or bad. The comment was about CAMRA supporting a fizzy beer campaign.

If it is totally unacceptable for GK to classify their fizzy IPA as the same beer that won an award at the GBBF why should a beer from abroad that is not real at the point of dispense be treated any differently?

Isn't it one of CAMRAs key campaigns to educate the public on the difference between a 'real' bottled beer and a 'fizzy' bottled beer.? l assume that Budvar qualifies for the 'CAMRA says this is a Real Ale' logo.

Very true. I think you'll find that a lot of pubs now use mixed gas for "normal" keg dispense. We switched over a few years ago. I think that part of the argument was cost. You do get some increase in head retention on the lagers (becuse of the smaller nitrogen bubbles) but it's not all that noticeable.

Around the same time Fullers started putting nitrogen reclamation units into their cellars so that pubs could rip nitrogen out of the air in order to top up their mixed gas supplies.

We currently have 2 "flavours" of mixed gas in the cellar - 60/40 (I think) for regular kegs and 70/30 (again, I think) for Guinness. We don't do smoothflow - they'll have to carry me out in a box before they put that in.
