beer in usenet is dead

WAKE UP! This is not a ploy to come to my site ... you guys could at least post a press release or two. Your personal reviews are lacking ... where is everyone? I leave for a long, long time and this place turns into a freaking ghost town.
Post in the name of beer ...

Um, Jason, everyone who really cares about beer spends most most of their Internet beer time at your site. I only come here to see if anything interesting shows up. Happens once in a while. Your site is THE resource for everything beer. But you already knew that. Keep up the great work.
(And no, I am in no way connected to the beeradvocate site.)

I'm killing off some leftover Blue Moons and Stone IPAs. Will start on my Bigfoot stash when the lightweight stuff runs out.
Happy now? ;)

Today, I had three bottles of Rusty Trombone, an oatmeal stout that I brewed. Velvety smooth and delicious!
And I prefer this newsgroup over your site.

It would be so much easier to believe you if you hadn't posted a sigfile with THREE links to your site.
And actually, such antics and egotism (not just by you, and not just on this newsgroup) is one of the primary reasons I largely gave up on Usenet in the first place.
Besides which, I get *paid* for most of my beer writings/opinions; why should I post them for free?

Thus the three links to your site.
Go away forever and you won't notice.

And we won't notice him gone, probably.

Wake up. Usenet is dead.
And it's tough to believe this is not a ploy to come to your site when the only time in the past few years you post is either to post a link to your site - with no comments on the issue at hand, just the link - or your approximately annual whine that r.f.d.b. is dead. I find it odd that it seems to bother you so much.
Oooh, regurgitating press releases is so much a sign of vibrant life!
Then stay away if it bothers you so much.
And, honestly, I can't say we've missed you here.
Rfdb is what it is; a small collection of people BSing about beer. It works for me and a couple dozen other people. It's like the regulars at your local pub. Sure, there's a bigger pub down the road, and it's probably fancier and definitely has more people. But it's not my local, and it's not the crowd I'm used to. I'll visit the other place once in a while, but I like the atmosphere of the old, small local better, and I'll stick with it for now.
And where's your contribution on that front, other than whining about people not "posting for beer"? And links with no commentary don't count.

Check the WSJ article I posted. Oh dear, you must be feeling a bit rough today. Maybe the after-effects of a few too many last night?
What are they lacking. My guess is most everyone is here, excepting you of course.
Hmmm. I wonder if you should not have abandoned this forum. Well, after considering the tone of your post it was probably a good thing.
Shilling for traffic on your site?

Yeah, it's a pretty good site and while we're saying nice things, his brother Todd is a really nice guy too.

No but I sure as hell notice him back. I didn't exactly "hear" him enter but my nostrils flared...
