brew pubs in NYC

Apr 12, 2004 2 Replies

I'm goin' to be coming down Metro-North into Grand Central Station this week for an appointment in the city, and on my way out I would like to hang around and go to an awesome brewpub -- only condition is that it needs to be subway accessible, or at least a short taxi to one.

What are ya'lls suggestions?

Heartland Brewing has a place north of Times Square, not sure the exact address. Their Oatmeal Stout was great, thought the other beers were pretty good. Food was so-so and overpriced, but I've learned to expect that in brewpubs.

While not a brew pub per se, The Ginger Man at 11 East 36th St. has an incredible selection of beers on tap, a nice atmosphere and a decent bar menu. Walk down Madison about six blocks and take a right on 36th and it's in the middle of the block.
