Watering holes in Toulouse

I'm getting ready to go on a week-long conference in Toulouse. While I will have to actually work during the day (outrageous!), a group of us will be free to carouse in the evenings. We're mostly staying in Toulouse city center, just north of the river- one of us has a car.

We're not on expense accounts, and we're not into spending vast amounts on food/wine either, but we would love to go to a few restaurants, big or small, that have a nice selection of wines and cuisine. Between us, we can speak and understand enough French to get us through a meal.

So if anyone has suggestions for restaurants, wine-bars, etc I would really appreciate them. I, for one, would love to find some nice cheese- its tough to get good cheese in the US. And maybe some foie gras too.

I know this is an open-ended question, I suppose I'm mostly interested in compiling a list of 5 or so places that are fairly accessible to tourists, not terribly expensive and offer good food and wine at reasonable prices.

Thanks!
