ot-classic cocktails

i have a friend who owns a basic kids bar(horrible music, cheap bud light and current trendy shot special, lots of bottles that get opened yearly). Tuesday nights are dead so i usually drop bye and help close since he works alone then. we usually have a good beer or 2 after closing. tonight's conversation turned to classic cocktails and we both realized we had never tried many of them for years if ever. we've decided to start the tuesday night cocktail hour and try some of these. tonight we looked up and made a manhattan. i liked it but would prob never order one.next weeks plan is an "old fashioned". would anyone have other ideas to suggest?

Yes! A real, fresh-made whiskey sour, made with rye whiskey, like Jim Beam Rye, is a delicious summer drink. In a shaker half filled with ice, combine

2.5 oz. rye, 1.5 oz. FRESH-SQUEEZED lemon juice, and 1/2 teaspoon bar sugar. Shake well, strain into glass, garnish with orange slice and maraschino cherry. This will open the eyes of anyone who's only ever had "pre-mix" whiskey sours: it's a knockout!

Gibson Scotch Sour Mint Julep Black Russian

That's all I remember -- it actually describes my entire memory of the '60s.
