There was an episode of Becker (the sitcom) where it was said that adding a small amount of chicory to coffee improved the taste. Is this true ? Where can I buy chicory ?

Depends on whether or not you like it!
It's popular in and around New Orleans.
I've tried it, and I don't particularly like it. I like my coffee plain, and my espresso with skim milk, as in a latte.
That's all.
If you're using crappy coffee, then yes.
I tried coffee with chicory in it while stationed in New Orleans, and I found it to be disgusting, as did most of the others on my ship. Natives love it, though. Go figure.
jmac Still enjoying my second cup of the day.
I haven't tried coffee with chicory in it yet but a couple of people in this newsgroup seem to be enjoying coffee with chicory. I would love to know what it tastes like then i might try coffee with chicory.
cheers

Whatever you do, don't get the cinnamon coffee at White Hen pantry.
I dank chicory coffee for the first two decades of my life in Louisiana. The brand was called Community Coffee.
You can get it here:

The reviews are all positive too. I miss this coffee. I think I'll buy some now.
