Hi guys !
Im currently undergoing some tests to see what kind of yeast grows in what kind of sugar and what to add for increased flavour/growth from the yeast. I've asked a biologist what he thought I could use as yeast nutriment and he suggested some peptone.
Now, i know he thought only about the growth part, and I remember someone saying that peptone doesn't taste that great.
For those of you who don't know, peptone is "pre-digested proteins", effectively making it a big lot of free aminated acids (which are used by organisms to produce proteins and the such).
Not knowing fully how beer -or wine or champagne, what-have-you - yeast behaves in the presence of peptone and how good/bad it tastes, im asking you guys and gals your imput on the matter.
Thanks !
Al
