What about foam control - anyone use it and what is it, specifically

I have had some high density beers blow the top off the fermenter, until I found out about Foam Control.

I bought this little 2 oz bottle, for like $8 or something, and all it took was a teaspoon after pitching the yeast and no foam ! well, maybe an inch or so, where otherwise there would have been 6 inches.

I ran out of the stuff and have not been able to find any since, but would love to know what this stuff is, what the chemical or generic name of this magic serficant is.

I know that foam control is used in the food industry so some places must buy this stuff by the 50 gallon barrel.

Foam , dug, foam, the stuff that plugs the air lock and causes the lid to blow off, or did you read my message?

and if you decide to do that, dug, you will want to look up "surfactant" and specifically its use in the food industry.

But I really don't know why I'm sharing this knowledge with you. Your response was, well, never mind. And should you wish to call and discuss this, you have my number. I'm not anonymous.
