Fennel/Anise/Licorice Tea

I don't as a rule go for herbal teas but a while ago someone offered me a tea bag with something vaguely anise flavored. I don't recall the exact flavoring or the brand, but found it rather sweet and soothing. Since then I have occasionally found myself in the mood for something similar but when I do a search on the internet I wind up with all these semi-medicinal beverages produced and sold by herbal/natural food companies and haven't the foggiest idea which to choose, if any. I was wondering if anyone else had a favorable experience with a particular brand of a tea of similar ilk that they would recommend?

Dear Leo

I don't either go for herbals but last night, unusually, had severe griping pains in my gut with wind and heartburn. Now I normally ignore such things and am a great believer in the healing power of the body and suspect that much medication actually delays recovery however, having reached midnight with my symptoms getting steadily worse I thought a that little outside assistance might be indicated.

In my tea cupboard lay a tin of my specialty tea company's own Digestive Blend tisane. In private I had previously scoffed at this mix of fennel and dill seed as canary food, preferring "real tea" myself. Nevertheless I prepared a large mug, and though even plain cold water had been making me nauseous, the smooth soothing aroma, taste and comforting warmth of the Nothing-But-Tea Digestive Blend began to work. By the second mug the pains had ceased and equanimity was returning. And thus comforted, I retired to an unexpectedly good night's sleep.

I hope this is not construed as shameless advertising - at midnight I would even have loved Lipton, had the cure been available from them.

one of my current favorites is Create World Peace from Divinitea in NY...it features licorice, ginger and mint and is divine...i especially enjoy it when i have an upset stomach or it's really cold outside :) Speddie I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
