I can't, but your news service can. Most news servers run "cleanfeed" which does a pretty good job of eliminating spam. Get off of google and onto a legitimate Usenet provider and you'll find your Usenet reading experience is greatly improved.

Marketing in Usenet discussions groups is prohibited. I don't see any difference between tea or adult ads in bright lights or small print. There is software that combs Usenet and automatically inserts ads based on keywords. If you want to see automotive ads mentioned an automotive group similar to what the would be author did. Filters don't work. Ironically Google will probably ensure the survival of Usenet because of the advertising revenue from archiving. The newsgroup servers will probably fade away. MSN doesn't carry Usenet.
