Is there a comprehensive tea review site out there someplace, or is there just too much variety and inconsistency from crop to crop to support such a thing? There is a great resource for pipe tobacco reviews that I use, but haven't seen anything similar for tea.

I'd say it's a lot like wine. Different vintages are different product, though the estate (domaine) and region (apellation) can have some consistent characteristics.
I try to trust what the reputable retailers tell me on their websites. YMMV.
