I don't know. I do know that I can buy Draught Guinness in the US for about one pound per can, and I was paying _much_ more than that when I was over in England.

And yet, last year up in Hawesn, and in Leyburn (North Yorkshire Dales) we were paying less for Laphroig than we pay here in NC USA, and that in a small, local, one off grocery store. I believe we bought the Laphroig 10 for about 17# (about $35 US) while we pay close to $48 US here in NC.

I disagree. A "blended malt" refers to a vatted malt. A "blend", in my experience, always refers to a blended whisky. Using "blend" to refer to vatted malt is almost a guarantee of confusing the issue. I recommend continuing to use "vatted malt" rather than "blended malt."
