Mellowing out...

Some time when you feel like a galactic experience, try the Aberlour a'Bunadh. Probably two or three times the money, but 10 times the thrill. I'm a peat guy for the most part, but I like an irresistible sherry seduction from time to time, and this is it.

Dalwhinnie used to be my favourite, but it has fallen off my list of favourites. First because of the higher price here (Ontario, Canada) but eventually because of the flavour. Value for money here is Longmorn 15 yr. Great stuff, the finish goes on and on. For a sherried whisky, I'll take Aberlour, but I generally pass on the sherry.

May I recommend the Ardbeg 17 year if you can get it. Not as peaty as the regular stuff, and very nice. Sorry I can't be more specific, as I haven't had it for awhile. I do remember the first taste making me go 'wow' though.

I guess I'd better go and visit my father-in-law and ask for another taste! :-)
