Thought we cleared that up. We're not friends of spammers. How about you go away, sweetie, and stay there?

The only thing you've accomplished here is to give your potential customer base notice that you're a spammer. As such, I for one will avoid your company.

Laura is not only "spamming" but have written "normal" posts on other newsgroups

Just thought I would let you know. I think it's ok to inform about good offers (commercial posts) if it comes from serious shops. Dont know anything about "whisky-cigars". I can see on their homepage its based in Rose Street (as well as another place) so there must be someone here who can make an independant review. Or else I would pass by next time in Edinburgh to have a wee look

She was SmokeyGirl in her last post (28 June). But why do you respond to this stuff? It only encourages them.

I'm not sure how saying "Go away, spammer, the only thing you accomplished is to tell me who not to buy from" encourages them.

The only effective way to counter a spammer is to ignore them

Not true. Reporting the insistant ones to their ISPs and/or their ISPs upstream is quite effective. Killfiles also work, but this one nym-shifts. Losing an ISP account or three can tend to dampen their enthusiasm for spamming. There's lots of good resources out there if you'd like to take a more active approach than "just ignore it and let someone else deal with it". If you want to join the "someone else dealing with it", cauce.org is a good place to start.

Sorry, don't understand all that technical jargon. Ignore is technical enough for me. I'll concentrate my energies where I feel they are most effective.

No problem, at all. Plenty of motivated talent who enjoy tracking 'em down and getting their accounts yanked.
