The opportunity of a lifetime: Get yourself your own cask of prime malt whisky!

- the cask: no. 68 / 1995, a first-fill sherry hogshead (a former sherry cask, used for whisky maturation for the first time)



- included in this cask offer is storage at Springbank warehouse and insurance until 12th May, 2005. Background: in an effort to boost their cash flow in the last decade, Springbank made it possible to obtain casks with freshly distilled whisky. This ended unfortunately a couple of years ago, when they went short of supply for their own bottlings!



In 1995 I bought this particular cask through the well-known German whisky retailer SCOMA, which has an outstanding name among whisky enthusiasts. Over the years I had two sample bottles being drawn.



The Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Springbank Distillery is regarded as one of the finest whiskies available. Springbank is privately owned and famous for honoring the traditional methods of distilling. Auction and market prices for Springbank whisky speak for themselves.

I'm just selling a cask of whisky and of course I post the offer where potential buyers can be found. I wouldn't consider that desperate. If you see me posting it again and again over the next couple of months, then we can talk ;-)

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, guidelines are pretty meaningless espeically for an alt group. Thinking about it, I'm surprised no one has created a malt whisky newsgroup in one of the formal heirarchies.

Back at the inception of this group, that is exactly what I was in the process of doing. I was thinking rec.food.drink.whisky. Part of the registration guidelines with newsadmins involves canvassing to see whether coverage is given elsewhere.

Mr. Grimm had just started this group a week before I had finally gathered everything up and was going to register, so I just decided to join forces here. The relative freedom of an alt group is ultimately more interesting, but I still think if people want to post free advertising, it should be distinguished from discussion in the subject line. In the end, I really doesn't matter because this is an unmoderated ng anyway.
