I know it's harder to get, but apparently there's lots of stocks.

Rumours of a shortage always drive up demand but I sympathise with your viewpoint. The distillery denied any shortage of the 16 when I was there in
2002. As you say, loads of it in the stores round these parts.: As you say, loads of it in the stores round these parts.
FWIW, none of the local stores here in the Washington DC area where I usually buy it have it right now. Some I haven't asked why, but some said they are unable to purchase it.
Luckily I have half a bottle open and two more as backup...
