Laphroiag

I'm not sure about rare or old bottlings, but it's hard to beat the Cask Strength (may only be available in Europe, but is at Schiphol duty free!).

The one in the glass that I am drinking from.

I love the standard 10 year old, although a lot of people have been saying to me that it is not as good as it used to be - I haven't noticed a discernable difference.

I've tasted the 40 y.o. on the german Whiksyfair. An it was one of the best Single Malts i ever had. Cheers, Christan

My favourite is the 15 but I think the 10 is superb VFM.

An acquaintance of mine likes the bog-standard 10YO in an unhealthy way, but he's reduced to single syllables (consisting mostly of the consonant sounds of "em" and "haitch", with a few vowel sounds thrown in to break the monotony) by the 15YO cask strength Laphroaig.

I think it's a vile, phenol ridden substance that purports to be whisky, but the 10YO probably has the best taste vs. cost ratio.

I swear that the Laphroaig 10 around a decade ago HAD gotten thin--as if they were watering down the peat to make it more palatable for the masses--but the ones I've had in the last year or two have been full and delicious. Great stuff.

Let me answer the other way round: Laphroaig 30 y.o. is the worst.

Bromo: My very favorite is the 10 year old Laphroaig cask strength. Its most striking facet is an uncommonly smooth, almost sirupy mouth feel. As far as the flavors, it seems to have twice the pungency and taste of the regular ten year old. Try it! Rufus
