lismore single malt - no age statement - wm. lundie & co. ltd.

mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm.... and at 12.99 a fifth the price is right too.

what does it taste like?

a lot like cutty sark, without the grain spike, mellow as all get out, kind of hard to define, not as biting as the islays i've had, not as sweet as the tastes of speysides i've had, subtle but flavorful, like a good green tea... complementary but doesn't stand out... i can see growing addicted to it however, i dropped some in a cutty/laphroaig blend i've got going and put some in another bottle i've got that is like generic speyside blend/finlaggan (it's my 'coffee' bottle, and it's almost too good for the coffee now.)

on the whole? i'd have paid 20.00 for the bottle. and i'm one tight-fisted bastid.

word has it that lismore is a 6 to 8 year glenrothes.

not too casky, good malty flavor, some sweet bourbon notes, well balanced with a mild but notable finish.

cheers! Doc

It's decent for the price for sure. Here it can be found for $13.99 ($20 at most places). At $20, kind of a rip IMHO, when 10 YO bottles of known pedigree are available at that price point. It is definitely young but still not bad. The word that comes to mind for me is peppery. I'm glad I got to try it but it will be a while before I circle back to it with so many others to try.

it's less peppery then spicy.... but of course... your diet could affect your tasting.... it seemed very peppery to me after mexican food.... but is only spicy after homecookin'.

I posted a message about it maybe three weeks ago after I found a bottle of it. It says it's bottled in Glasgow and is a highland malt. No age statement. So I figured it must be the surplus of some highland distillery, Lord knows which one.

Touche! I just looked to confirm same. However, the Spey river is in the highlands, so guess I was also right.

sort of. speysides are usually classified separately as are scotches from campbeltown.
