(slightly OT) Where can I buy Suntory in L.A.?

Dec 13, 2003 6 Replies

Need to buy some Suntory as a gift - anyone know where I can find some, hopefully near the west side of Los Angeles?

Thanks,

(Well, it's -kinda- like a scotch whisky)

Mike,

I remember seeing it at that big Japanese market on SW corner of 4th and Alameda, Little Tokyo, downtown LA. Sorry, don't remember the name of the place.

Aha - this is Mitsuwa, and there is a branch near me. I called them and they said they carried it - score!

If anyone has any other pointers I would appreciate them as well, as Mitsuwa is sort of (in)famous for being expensive...

Now I berember. Used to be Yaohan. I've bought a lot of sake and sashimi there over the years, including since they got bought out/changed names - whatever. Their sashimi is outstanding and I always thought their prices on the sake were tolerable. However, I haven't been downtown in six months or so.

Well, they did -not- actually have any Suntory whisky - although they did have Suntory chosu, which is a distilled spirit, basically distilled sake, I think.

I might check the other location, anyone else have any ideas?

Only that if you can get the Suntory XO you'll be glad you did! Good luck and Happy Holidays.
