It all depends. Therer's a blend for every situation and there's allways the price/quality ratio

End of the day it's Black Bottle but that's if you like the traditional Islay style

Other favourites are

Johnny Walker Gold Chivas Regal Teacher's Highland Cream (Good value for money)

Definitely Clan MacGregor. The taste is best described by a Mr. Pusateri who has a website devoted to Clan M:

It has absolutely no flavor or finish to it. I'd love to describe the bouquet and taste, but it had no distinguishable characteristics other than a slight burning sensation as it went down.

Islay Mist. With a heart of Laphroaig. No further explanation required...

I have not had a blend in years. They were all too bland for me. So, how does Islay Mist stack up to single malts, like Laphroig and Bowmore and Ardbeg, both in taste and in price? Is this something I should search out? I'm quite happy with my Bowmore 12, my Ardbeg 10, even my low-end Glen Garioch 10. Is there a good reason to seek out Islay Mist??

I use Clan MacGregor for mixing & Dewar's Special Reserve 12-year for sipping, both blended.

Clan MacGregor is mild, less flavorful & pretty smooth. 80 proof (40% alcohol). Runs about $8-$10 per 750ml bottle around Ohio, which is why I use it for mixing.

Dewar's SR-12 is very smooth, tasteful & has a peppery/sweet & burning finish. 86 proof (43% alcohol). It's $29-$31 here in the 750ml bottle & worth "every penny" in my opinion. I won't drink any other blended Scotch straight, this is the one I like best of all.
