Sample Bottles?

That is a great idea, but I do not think there would be a very good selection.

I would be interested in know if there was a place to buy the 1oz bottles also.

Nobody sells them where I live. But in the absence of a big selection of miniatures to sample, your best bet might be to find a bar or restaurant in your area that has a good single malt selection, and go and try a few. It won't be cheap, but it will be cheaper than buying full-sized bottles you know nothing about and discovering you don't like them.

Actually, there is a fairly decent supply of miniature bottles (the "technical" term) available but it requires a lot of digging to find them. The best place I have ever seen is Buster's Liquors in Memphis, TN. 2 years ago, while visiting for a wedding, I stumbled into this store and was amazed at the wall (literally) of miniatures available. I must of picked up 15-20 scotchs for the very reason mentioned here --- to try new ones. They also have a website, but TN law prohibits shipping so it's not much good (they also don't have a lot of info about the miniatures there either). The website is

As an aside, miniature collecting is also quite an interesting hobby... I am now up to about 300 bottles.
