Speyside 12 impressions

I bought a bottle of Speyside 12 year old single malt Scotch a few weeks ago. It has an odd flavor, almost like wet cardboard or something. Did I just get an off bottle, or is there some subtle character thing about it that I just don't understand?

I had the exact same impression - wet cardboard. Maybe it's the house style. Mine got better after it was open for a bit.

If that's the house style, I'll be drinking from someone else's house. Thanks for the confirmation that I'm not insane.

Wait, actually this doesn't address that issue at all. But thanks for the flavor check.
