Welsh Whisky experience and Heathrow purchases

We just returned from two weeks in London and Wales, during which we tasted the new Welsh whisky, Penderyn, several times. Unfortunately, we were not impressed.

The flavor is somewhere between ouzo and anisette -- very pronouncedly anise-flavored, without any other (to us) identifiable whisky flavorings. Acceptable to my wife, who likes anise flavoring, but revolting to me.

Does anyone have experience or tasting notes on the Macallan Elegancia, Glenmorangie 100 proof "Traditional", or Oddbins' "Jon, Mark, and Robbo's 'Rich Spicy One'"? TIA...

sent me two 10 cl. complimentary sample bottles of Penderyn, to Los Angeles, on which I ended up paying $ 35 duty! It had what I thought was a slight Irishness to it, but was generally unimpressive. Certainly not worth the cost ($175/litre!), although their generous intent is duly noted.
