Grilled a pork loin roast with new potatoes and the last kale from our gard en. I went rummaging around the cellar and found two bottles of 1997 Duckh orn Napa Merlot. One bottle went to the orphan bin and I opened the other for dinner. A nice bright reddish purple in the glass with no bricking. Fa irly effusive nose of plums, red berries and sage. Nice and smooth on the palate with very ripe fruit notes consistant with the viintage. Lots of ca ndied plum, a faint hint of raisins and berries, underbrush and black peppe r. A very interesting wine that was a pleasure to drink. "A-"
