How much should one budget for a visit? Sounds an absolute must for the fall/winter for "les Hoares".

Our total was a little under $261, $280 with tax, $325 with tip. That was 2 5 course, a fairly expensive ($75?) bottle of wine, a glass of red, and a glass of dessert wine. Plus coffee and tea (nice tea choices).
The 3 course is $52, the 4 is $62, and the 5 course is $72. Chef adjusts size of portion to fit your order, so you're not going hungry with 3 courses.
One could get by quiter cheaper than we did (and I probably will next time). The wine list included some good wines in the $30-50 bottle range. A couple of
2002 Brocard 1ers caught my eye at $45,but felt GV ordered more versatility. But I bet I could have been pretty content with a 1er cru Chablis, and a first course of scallops and caviar, and the mackerel for my main. Will wait for Jason to report on his meal there.
By the way, the StoneBarns center (the non-profit) offers tours of the farm. And of course the Union Church and Kykuit are right nearby.
cheers, Dale

Thanks for the run down. A touch costly - our current favourite place does a
4 course menu with 2 extras for €39 - call it $45 a head - "service compris" Still sounds as if we should plan for it.Ta.

Ian, as I said, indeed pricey, not going to become my weekly haunt. But actually not especially pricey for a top-notch restaurant in a metropolitan area- this is still NYC area. There are other restaurants in Westchester with $30+ main courses, $15 appetizers and desserts, where one could spend as much or more for less of a meal(though I choose not to!).
They just opened, and are already completely booked for month of May. They start taking reservations 30 days before each date. I found using opentable.com easiest way to work that. If you decide you wish to go, and it turns out you'll be traveling at time you wish to make reservations, let me know and I'll try and arrange.
They have up website, but menus &website not on line to date:
If anyone is interested in information on the center:
best, Dale
