2001 Mas la plana

Dinner last night with the daughters boyfriends family . . . His dad pulled out a bottle of the above a Cab Sauv from Torres. My God this is a good wine. 18 months in French oak and 8+ in the bottle leave it in superb shape- a nose that that beckons loudly even from the cork-there was no mistaking this one for a flawed bottle from the get go. Long on the finish and fuller than most Cal Cabs It reminded me of a truly great Rioja Reserva or Bordeaux. I wish I could describe all of the tastes but this is one not to miss.

Santiago what am I missing here?

My favourite Mas la Plana weren't called Mas la Plana.

Back when it was simply Gran Coronas Black Label the wines were fabulous (the 1970 was magnificent!). Hasn't really been as good IMHO after about 1978.
