Why their tasting room is there and not in St. Helena, I'll never know. I'll be in L.A. this week and contemplated driving up there, but 4 hours is just too far. I'll just stick to what I get with my allocation.

Are you sure that there is no wild grape native to the Americas? I thought that the root stock used to graft onto (that is phylloxera resistant) is a native variety.

It is about 3 hours, if it matters. Turley was very hesitant about the idea of having a tasting room. I think that it why they are not in Napa. The environment there is much more difficult. (Lots of people there to taste and few to buy.) Paso Robles is small enough that it made for a good experiment. So far the tasting room has been a huge success for them and it has made them a lot of money. I wonder how much of that has to do with selling the old Pesenti wines, though. They *still* have those on hand.
