TN: 2001 Turley Pesenti Zin

Consumed tonight with a dinner of BBQ ribs (slow smoked, Dale):

2001 Turley Paso Robles Pesenti Vyd Zinfandel (15.3% ABV) nose: very high toned, tart berry fruit, cedar, VA? palate: quite acidic, medium-full body, tons of cedar, berries, finishes on acidity

Certainly a decent BBQ wine, it didn't live up to the image of Turley Zins as thick, (over)extracted monsters. It was recognizable Zin, but still a mile away from anything that Ridge produces. In many ways, it reminded me more of Cline's Zins than anyone else's.

Stop making me hungry. I think I'll be doing a couple racks this weekend.

Were the ribs very spicy or more on the mild side? This sounds like one I'd like to try out. Thanks for the notes, if not for them I would have walked right away from a 15.3%, even in a Zin. Highest I've had was

14.5 - was quite nice but edging towards being hot.

Sounds a bit disappointing as I just ordered the 2004 Presenti.
