2002 Meursault 2007 Drouhin Vero

An old friend stopped by last night to sit on the patio and pick guitars, eat some stinky cheese and drink a little wine. We started with a 2002 Latour Meursault 1er "Gouttes d'Or" -pale gold in the glass. Nice lemony mineral tinged nose. Very smooth and slightly fat on the palate with typical Meursault buttery flavors. Nice acidty and balance and went well with the very ripe Epoisses. Craig brought a bottle of 2007 Drouhin Vero. I've had Vero a number of times over the years and always felt that it was a pretty good buy this vintage was no exception at about $20 USD. Pale red in the glass. Pretty pinot nose with a Volnay minerality. Easy drinking, plenty of red fruits, cherry and raspberry. Both wines were solid "B+"..
